Heatwave

Meteofrance seem pretty convinced we'll see temperatures between 36 and 38 degrees centigrade by the end of the week. That's 100 Fahrenheit!

We will all melt. Heat and high humidity - a Spanish Plume. Hot unstable air drifting up from north Africa and southern Spain.

There will be isolated thunderstorms too. I hope they miss.

The garden could do with some rain. But lengthy moderate rainfall would be preferable to torrential thundery downpours though unlikely.

  1. Wow Rob - that's seriously hot and here I am getting excited that our temperature might nudge up to 18 degrees centigrade later this week! Hope that you are able to find shelter in the shade. Your garden is looking fabulous. Which grass is it that's shimmering in the last photo?

    1. You could well be a lot warmer as this air drifts north at the end of the week. The grass is stipa gigantea (giant oats) with a very green panicum 'northwind' in front of it.

  2. Although we are nudging into the depths of winter here in Melbourne, our summers do have several days in the high 30s as well and low 40s. Most of the time we are fairly moderate overall. Love your area of France though.

    1. Hi Leon. Isn't Melbourne famous for it's four seasons in one day?
