At Sarlat Market

Saturday is market day in Saralat, the nigh on perfect jewel in the Perigourdine crown. If your ever there, be sure  to look up above the eye line and admire the perfectly preserved medieval architecture.

Cheer up love.

    1. Yum - check the cheese out. The lady selling cheese in the last photo is Dutch and sells a special Gouda called Old Amsterdam which is aged for four years. It's superb. Of course she sells a lot of excellent French cheese too.

    1. Thanks Jane. I work on the principle that if I take hundreds of pics eventually I'll end up with some half decent ones.

  4. Oh what fabulous produce Rob :) Our fruit and veg look positively anaemic in comparison. I wonder what has attracted the attention of the stall holder in the first photo.

    1. It's the tomatoes that are brilliant in September and early October. Frequently the stall holders will sell bunches of basil too.

Can't remember what caught the attention of the fella in the top photo, he's a character though.

    1. It's too easy not to look 'above' at Sarlat market - there's so much activity at ground level.

  6. Been to Sarlat once back in 2008 but unfortunately not on market day. Just the same, a memorable experience.

  9. Such beautiful photos and it looks so peaceful and charming; would love to be amongst the people shopping and talking, perhaps even exchanging ideas and some recipes. Oh how I wish we had those open markets as in Europe, alas, it would not be the same, not the same atmosphere. I can only 'dream'. Thanks for sharing. Go well .... EB
